Wardrobe Planning - Tips & Tricks

Planning the perfect wardrobe can be an overwhelming task. It feels like there are hundreds of design components, options and layouts. We’ve compiled a list of tips to design your dream wardrobe to suit your own personal needs.

  • Ignore all finishes, colours and door options. It’s so easy to get caught up in the fuss of endless door colours and styles without even thinking of how it’ll look on the inside. Most people think these are the most important choices, when as a matter of fact the functionality is the most important. No door style or colour will change how your wardrobe will meet your needs.

  • Consider how you want the wardrobe to work for you. Ask yourself, what have you to store? Do you need more shelves for folded clothes or hanging space? Do you need space for shoes. Would you like to include drawers like above. The shelving unit on the left here is for shoe storage. Higher shelving allowing heels, boots and flats to sit comfortably. Also allowing shoes at the front and back. The shelving on the right is allocated for folded clothes. Blind corners allow for short hanging. The drawers are perfect for keeping underwear, pyjamas, towels etc.

  • If your wardrobe will be in your bedroom, know where it’s going to be from the start as there is usually just one space suitable for it. The beauty of bespoke is allowing you to create exactly what you need to fit your space. If budget allows, maximise all the space from floor to ceiling. This top space is super handy for any items that you don’t need on a daily basis.

  • Consider sliderobes and gain even more space than traditional hinged doors. Even in a small room, sliderobes can work. The inclusion of a mirror gives the illusion of a bigger space too. What’s popular now is having your vanity dresser behind the doors (if you are in the position to) which keeps the room looking minimal and clutter free.
